Text | Delores M. Matlock, 92, of Scottsbluff, died peacefully Sunday May 30, 2010, she was born April 3, 1918, in Denver. Rosary will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, June 18, at the church. A Mass Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Scottsbluff. A reception/lunch will follow at 1 p.m. at "El Mexicano Restaurant" located at 510 East 9th Street. Delores "Lola" was well known throughout the community for her "feisty" personality and was often noted to have a "tell it like it is" attitude, and was never one to sugar anything, despite these traits all who knew her-loved her. She was a devoted wife, and a mother who would do anything for her children, or anyone in need for that matter. "Lola" love to cook, clean, dance, garden, sew, and most of all loved to make her all of her kids, grandkids, and great grandchildren laugh with her outstanding sense of humor. In Essence my grandmother had a great life and will be missed by many. From her 1st Union in "1934" came daughters: Betty Castaneda of Scottsbluff, and Jenny Renteria of Lincoln, Neb. In "1952" she remarried Bruce Matlock Sr. and had the following children: Loma Aguilar of Denver, and Bruce Matlock Jr. of Scottsbluff, and Francine Aguilera (deceased) of Scottsbluff. "Lola" worked with her husband at "Bruce's Tavern," on the once famously known "9th Street" for over 40yrs. where she was able to touch many lives. "Lola" had a total of 15 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents Gavino and Petra, brothers, Ralph, Manuel, Albert, and Jesse Montanez, Husband Bruce Matlock Sr. and daughter, Francine Aguilera. | |
