MERRILL, 20 ARTHA FAIRALL, l7 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Decatur County Journal - Iowa Thursday, February 21, 1901 "Kimball Fairall, who lives just south of Weldon, filed information Monday before Justice Harvey charging Clive Merrill, son of J. H. Merrill, the auctioneer, with seduction. The young lady in the case, Miss Artha Fairall, gave birth to a child last Sunday and named young Merrill as the author of her ruin. Deputy Sheriff Burns served the justice's warrant and brought the young man to town where after some discussion he agreed to remedy the unfortunate matter as nearly as possible. On Tuesday afternoon a license was secured and in company with the officer Mr. Merrill drove to the home of the girl's parents where a minister from Weldon performed the marriage ceremony."
