726 Raymond Baros Sr., 76, was called home by his Heavenly Father on Nov. 11, 2014 at Community Hospital in Torrington.

Raymond born Jan. 10, 1938 in Wheatland, the son of Albert and Cora (Carabajal) Baros. He was raised in the Guernsey and Hartville area. Raymond met the love of his life, Rebecca Santillanes, and they married on Aug. 31, 1963 in Torrington, and, from this union, were born six children, whom they loved dearly.

He was employed at the CF&I Sunrise Mine for 28 years till the mine closed. After that, he worked for the city of Torrington water department until he was injured, which led to an early retirement.

Raymond enjoyed his life to the fullest. He loved to sing and dance. He enjoyed fishing with his family and friends. He even tied his own fishing flies. He enjoyed elk hunting in Jackson with his sons.

He built his own home with the help of his brothers-in-law in 1980. He enjoyed making his rounds visiting and joking at the banks, post office, Kaufman Glass and his coffee buddies, to mention a few. Raymond was a friend to all and a stranger to no one. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him.

Raymond was a strong member of the Saint Rose Catholic Church where he served as a Eucharistic minister and served on the parish council. He was also a member of the American Legion.

Raymond is survived by his six children, Renee Baros, Rodney (Teresa) Baros, Raelynn Baros, Rorick Baros, Rodessa Baros and Raymond Baros, Jr., all of Torrington; a sister, Dora Ramos of Torrington; 11 grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his loving wife, Rebecca; his parents; four sisters; and a great granddaughter.

727 Rebecca Bishop is listed as married to John Watson and as daughter of Edmond L. Bishop in Spartanburg probate record file 761. States that this was John Watson's first wife, implying that he had a second. I wonder if he could be the same as John P. Watson who married Elizabeth Goolsby November 17, 1842 in Campbell Co., GA. The Goolsbys of GA were intermarried with Bishops. Helen Smith has Bible records that John Watson married second Mary Holland, on 9 Sept 1824. I suppose that he could have married a third time, however, although unlikely.

Also listed in file 761: Scarbury Bishop, m. Josiah Belcher, living 1854; Polley Bishop, m. Thomas Russell, living 1854; Mahala Bishop, m. John (Jas or Jos?) Cudd, living 1854; Easter (Esther) Bishop, m. Justin Turner, living 1854; ? [Watson, not Bishop], m. John C. Garrison, living 1854. Most of these were daughters of Edmond L. Bishop, but some, at least the wife of John C. Garrison, was a granddaughter. From Equity Bill Box 33 Pkg on his estate, he had to have died before 16 Feb 1852, their date.

There was an Edward L. Bishop in court in Spartanburg in 1820.

An Edmond Bishop m. Polly Brandon, daughter of Wm. Brandon (probably the son of George Brandon), before 1802. I wonder if this might be the wife of Edmond Bishop and NOT Sarah Brannon.

Helen Smith: Estate split 11 ways. "Grands" split their mother's 11th interest.

731 Richard operated a meat market in Liverpool until he started to manufacture soft drinks. After the death of their second infant daughter in 1854, Richard, Elizabeth, John, Tom, and Eunice (Elizabeth's unmarried sister) sailed for America.
In Toronto, Richard became a bridge builder and helped build the Grand Trunk Railway across the Canadian Continent. They moved to Omaha, Nebraska, during the winter of 1855-56.
In 1865, Richard purchase a sixty acre farm in Cass Township, Shelby County, Iowa for $5.00 an acre. There they raised nine of their fifteen children to maturity. The farm eventually consisted of 220 acres, and it is a mile or so almost directly south of Portsmouth, Iowa.
They reitred to Persia, Iowa, where they lived until their deaths. They became members of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in February 1865, having been baptized by Elder Howard S. Smith in Florence, Nebraska. Richard then became a teacher in the Church.
After being confined to his bed for three years, at the age of 88, Richard departed this earth.

732 Robert's wife Elizabeth is listed Spartanburg Probate record #1211, living in 1817 & daughter of David Lewis. I suspect that David was her brother who supposedly rescued some of her children from the Indians. It is believed that Robert Bishop was the Robert Bishop killed by Indians about 1776.
