Text | James Areford, 93, of Waynesburg, formerly of Nemacolin, died Wednesday, December 27, 2006, in Golden Living Center, Waynesburg. He was born April 16, 1933, in Carmichaels, a son of Ewing and Cecile Knight Areford. Mr. Areford served in the U. S. Army during the Korean War. He was a self-employed painter. Surviving are three daughters, Judy Smith of Walling, Tenn., Evalina Worman of Douglas, Wyo., and Rebecca Smart of Torrington, Wyo.; two sons, James Areford of Akron, Ohio, and Garner Areford of Douglas, Wyo.; 13 grandchildren; a great-grandchild; three brothers, Frank Areford of Lippencott, Sam Areford of Rogersville and Bill Areford of Waynesburg; and three sisters, Sarah Boone and Letha Vernon, both of Greensboro, and Betty Rockwell of Jefferson. Deceased are four brothers, Daniel Areford, Ewing Areford, Walker Areford and Dale Areford; and a sister, Dorothy Headlee. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, Gregory P. Rohanna, supervisor, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, with the Rev. John Poling officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Cemetery. | |
