Text | Joe R. Renteria of Lincoln, Nebraska November 26, 1931 - May 15, 2019 Joe R. Renteria, 87 of Lincoln, passed away May 15, 2019. Joe was born November 26, 1931, in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, to Ernest and Mary (Robles) Renteria. He attended Scottsbluff College and Chadron State where he received his Bachelor of Science Degree. After Chadron State he taught biology and coached basketball, football and track and field. Joe served in the Air Force for four years during Korea. He also got his Masters degree from UNL in Educational Psychology and his Ph. D. in Administrative Education. Joe worked at UNL in Multicultural Affairs in recruiting as well as in admissions. He served as Dean of Students at SCC Beatrice until his retirement. He was an avid golfer, enjoyed gardening and working on home projects. Joe is survived by his sons Pierre Renteria of Sacramento, CA; Joe Renteria, Jr. of Lincoln; Jeff Renteria of Pleasant Hill, CA, a daughter Brenda Lenhoff of Lincoln and 6 grandchidren and 3 great-grandchildren; two sisters Connie Medina of Goodyear, AZ, and Martha Hickman of Henderson, NV and a brother Ernie Renteria of Palo Cedro, CA. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Mary Renteria; brothers Rod Renteria and Steve Renteria and a sister Mary Escamilla. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, May 24, 2019, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 3128 S St, Lincoln with Fr. Leo Kosch celebrating the Mass. Rosary will be at 10 am Friday at the church. | |
