Text | Louis Delmar Merrill, son of Joseph H. and Grace Merrill, was born near DeWitt, Illinois, December 4, 1872, and passed away at the home of his daughter, Mrs. R. H. Frost of Des Moines, at the age of 79 years, one month and 22 days. On September 29, 1909, he was married to Anna Hughes in Leon. To this union three children were born. All but one, who died in infancy, are still living. They are Mrs. Lola Richardson, of Richmond, California, and Mrs. Faye Frost of Des Moines; also two grandsons, Raymond Harold and James Merrill Frost of Des Moines. He came to Iowa with his folks in 1896. After his marriage he located on a farm near Leon. Early in life he became a Christian, uniting with the Methodist church. In later years he joined the Leon Brethren church, to which he remained faithful till death. Of him it could be said truthfully, "He was a good husband and father." Besides his immediate family and a host of friends, he leaves to mourn his loss four sisters and two brothers. Funeral services were held from the Stewart Funeral Home January 28, conducted by Rev. A. L. Sears and Rev. Miles Taber. Burial was in the Leon Cemetery. Card of Thanks -- We wish to express our most sincere thanks to the many friends and neighbors for the kindness shown us at the sale, and prior to the death of our loved one, for the comfort given us at his death and the lovely floral offerings...Mrs. Anna Merrill and family. | |
