Text | Adah Archer services are held on Sept. 16 Adah L. Archer, aged 71, formerly of Torrington, died at her home in Irwin Towers in Douglas Sept. 11, 1980. She was born Nov. 27, 1908 at Colorado Springs, Colorado the daughter of Wriley Leroy and Clara A. (Westland) Stepp. She grew up in Colorado Springs, where she received her education. She married William Charles Archer at Castle Rock, Colorado on October 30, 1938. The family lived in Torrington from 1941 until 1967 when they moved to Douglas, Wyoming. While in Torrington, Mrs. Archer was the Evening Chief Operator for the United Telephone Company of the West. She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Torrington, the Casper E. Yost Chaper of the Telephone Pioneers of America at Omaha, Nebraska and the Torrington Business and Professional Women's club. She was a supporter of the Casper Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps, of which a granddaughter is a member. Mrs. Archer is survived by three daughters, Mrs. William K. (Judith) McKnight of Casper, Mrs. Raymond (Mary Jane) Reisig of Mitchell, Nebraska and Salli Archer of Staten Island, New York, one sister Mrs. Ruth Pierce of Phoenix, Arizona, nine grandchildren and one niece. She was preceded in death by her husband, William in 1974. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 16, 1980 at the Colyer Funeral Home in Torrington with Rev. W. Darrell Holmes officiating. Burial was in Valley View Cemetery in Torrington. A memorial has been established to the Casper Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps at Casper. © Douglas Budget, Douglas, WY, Sept. 18, 1980 |
