  Rebecca Bishop is listed as married to John Watson and as daughter of Edmond L. Bishop in Spartanburg probate record file 761. States that this was John Watson's first wife, implying that he had a second. I wonder if he could be the same as John P. Watson who married Elizabeth Goolsby November 17, 1842 in Campbell Co., GA. The Goolsbys of GA were intermarried with Bishops. Helen Smith has Bible records that John Watson married second Mary Holland, on 9 Sept 1824. I suppose that he could have married a third time, however, although unlikely. Also listed in file 761: Scarbury Bishop, m. Josiah Belcher, living 1854; Polley Bishop, m. Thomas Russell, living 1854; Mahala Bishop, m. John (Jas or Jos?) Cudd, living 1854; Easter (Esther) Bishop, m. Justin Turner, living 1854; ? [Watson, not Bishop], m. John C. Garrison, living 1854. Most of these were daughters of Edmond L. Bishop, but some, at least the wife of John C. Garrison, was a granddaughter. From Equity Bill Box 33 Pkg on his estate, he had to have died before 16 Feb 1852, their date. There was an Edward L. Bishop in court in Spartanburg in 1820. An Edmond Bishop m. Polly Brandon, daughter of Wm. Brandon (probably the son of George Brandon), before 1802. I wonder if this might be the wife of Edmond Bishop and NOT Sarah Brannon. Helen Smith: Estate split 11 ways.
