  Excerpt from "Memorials of the Huguenots", pg 82, by Rev. A. Stapleton, A.M., M.S., published 1901 "In 1738 arrived Jean Jourdan, whose father fled from France to the Palatinate of the Revocation. He established himself at Mt. Pleasant, in Hunterdon County in New Jersey, but his family eventually located in Pennsylvania. Among the sons of the emigrant was Frederick, born in 1744, and whose son John, born 1770, located in Philadelphia. John Jordan Jr (1808-1890),a son of the latter, was an eminent Moravian philanthropist who, among other noble deeds, so munificently supported and endowed the Pennsylvania Historical Society." There is some handwritten notes in the margins of this book which state--- See Rupp's Collection of 30000 Names pg 123 " Penna German Pioneers, Vol 1, pages 226-228-230. Will of Frederick Jordan was probated in 1784 (can't read this part) Mark. Jean (John) Jourdan, a Huguenot refugee from the German Palatinate in 1712 came to Hunterdon Co. NJ in 1738.
